Lessons from David

November 9-23, 2025 | 3 Sermons

It can feel like King David is someone that we could never relate to. But there's more to David's story. There were also times in David's life when he failed, when he was afraid, and when he desperately cried out to God in prayer. We can all relate to those moments.

In this series, we'll explore what David's highest and lowest moments can teach us about gratitude. And we'll learn that being thankful isn't about our circumstances but about who God is.

The Stories of Christmas

October 19-November 2, 2025 | 3 Sermons

We all want to make a difference, but something always seems to hold us back.

As we explore a few stories from Christmas past at Melbourne Heights, we'll explore what happens when we push past these barriers. And we'll see that real community forms when we start imperfectly, include unexpectedly, and give sacrificially.

Called by God

October 5-12, 2025 | 2 Sermons

t's easy to say you believe in something, but belief without depth crumbles when tested. We often settle for surface-level faith instead of diving deeper into what following Jesus actually means.

This series challenges us to move beyond shallow conversion to genuine discipleship. And the difference between believing and following might just change everything about how we live.

At the Table

August 31-September 28, 2025 | 5 Sermons

We gather around tables every day without thinking twice about it - breakfast tables, conference tables, dinner tables. But what if one particular table has the power to transform everything about how we live, love, and relate to others?

This series explores how an ordinary piece of furniture can become the most sacred space in our lives, challenging everything we thought we knew about belonging, change, and what it really means to follow Jesus.

The Book of Revelation

August 3-24, 2025 | 4 Sermons

The book of Revelation might be the most misunderstood book in the entire Bible - filled with confusing symbols, scary imagery, and predictions that make us want to avoid it altogether. But what if beneath all the dragons and beasts and mysterious numbers, there's actually a simple message that Jesus desperately wants every one of his followers to hear... especially when life gets overwhelming and faith feels impossible?

Rethinking the Church

July 6-27, 2025 | 4 Sermons

Everyone seems to have their own ideas of what the church is supposed to be about. But what if, in spite of our best efforts, we've been missing the point?

In this series, we'll rethink what it means to be the church, and see that maybe we've confused what happens in our buildings with what the church is actually called to do.

Overheard

June 8-29, 2025 | 4 Sermons

Some conversations change everything. What if you could be a fly on the wall during Jesus' most life-altering encounters?

From a secret midnight meeting with a religious leader to a chance encounter at a well, from desperate pleas for healing to a painful conversation between friends - these overheard moments reveal what it truly means to follow Christ.

The Book of Esther

April 27-June 1, 2025 | 6 Sermons

We all love a good fairytale, but not every story is only about princes, princesses, and getting to happily ever after. Like the story of Esther.

Even though Esther is a poor girl who marries a king, her story is so much more than just a fairytale. Esther's story actually challenges us to think about what our faith requires from us when bad things are happening in the world around us – especially when we feel powerless to stop it.

Empty

April 20, 2025 | 1 Sermon

While the world has changed dramatically since the first Easter, but we still face a lot of the same struggles 2,000 years later.

But the resurrection reminds us that "the worst thing is never the last thing," offering comfort to the sorrowful, hope to the despairing, and the promise that our emptiness can be filled with new life.

The Cross

March 9-April 13, 2025 | 6 Sermons

The cross stands as Christianity's most recognizable symbol, yet its message often seems foolish to the world. How can an instrument of execution represent hope? Why embrace sacrifice over power, death over life, grace over fairness?

Through these apparent contradictions, we discover God's deeper wisdom - a way that transforms how we face temptation, handle suffering, extend forgiveness, and choose love over control. The cross's foolishness reveals God's power to change everything.

The Parables of Jesus

February 2-March 2, 2025 | 4 Sermons

Jesus loved teaching through parables - little stories that make big points. From a dishonest manager who gets praised for his schemes, to a tiny mustard seed that reveals the true nature of God's kingdom, to a shepherd who leaves ninety-nine sheep to chase after one, these stories challenge our assumptions about how God works.

Through these unexpected tales, Jesus shows us that God's ways are different from what we might expect - and often more wonderful than we could imagine.

Shape Up

January 5-26, 2025 | 4 Sermons

Just like we make resolutions to improve our physical health, our spiritual lives need intentional care and exercise. This series explores essential spiritual disciplines - from fasting and sabbath rest to praise - that help strengthen our relationship with God.

Like any good fitness plan, growing closer to God isn't about quick fixes but developing healthy, sustainable practices that transform us from the inside out.
