The Parables of Jesus
The Parables of Jesus
3 Sermons | February 9-March 2, 2025
Jesus loved teaching through parables - little stories that make big points. From a dishonest manager who gets praised for his schemes, to a tiny mustard seed that reveals the true nature of God's kingdom, to a shepherd who leaves ninety-nine sheep to chase after one, these stories challenge our assumptions about how God works.
Through these unexpected tales, Jesus shows us that God's ways are different from what we might expect - and often more wonderful than we could imagine.
Sermon 1
The Dishonest Manager
February 9, 2025
In one of Jesus' strangest parable, a dishonest manager starts cutting deals with his master's debtors. But instead of condemning this scheming manager, the master commends him.
While this seems to go against everything Jesus taught, there's more to this story than meets the eye. Through this puzzling parable, Jesus shows us that what matters isn't how we spend our money - it's how we spend our lives.
Sermon 2
The Mustard Seed
February 23, 2025
We often think of God's kingdom as something grand and majestic, like a mighty cedar tree. But Jesus compares it to a tiny mustard seed.
While this seems like a strange choice, through this simple seed, Jesus shows us that God can take what seems small and insignificant and transform it into something incredible.
Sermon 3
The Two Builders
March 2, 2025
When Jesus talks about two builders, he's teaching us about more than construction techniques. Through this story, Jesus shows us that having faith isn't just about calling Him "Lord" - it's about building a relationship with Him that goes deeper than surface-level religion. A strong foundation can only come from God Himself, not from following people or popular trends.
